Fatigue, vibration and thermomechanics

Time-dependent loads, mode shapes and temperature gradients extend static analysis to the effects that govern service life and operation.

Applications

Fatigue and material failure

Load spectra, mean stress, notches, weld details and material data govern fatigue assessment. Local stress evaluation must match the selected verification method.

Modal and dynamic analysis

Natural frequencies and mode shapes identify resonance-sensitive regions. Harmonic, transient or random response can then be evaluated from the actual excitation.

Thermomechanical loads

Temperature fields are transferred to the structural model. Restrained expansion and different thermal-expansion coefficients create additional stress combined with mechanical loads.
