Airfoil and complete geometry
XFOIL supports two-dimensional airfoil polars within its assumptions. Three-dimensional effects, attachments, ground clearance, rotating components or complex separation require an extended CFD model.
Outputs
Loads, moments, drag, lift, pressure distribution or wake behavior may be central depending on the application.
- Airfoil and wing assessment
- Vehicle and locomotive contours
- Propulsion and cooling-air aerodynamics
- Static stability and controllability
Boundary conditions
Reynolds and Mach number, turbulence level, wall model and domain extent are documented. Comparison data must match the geometry and operating point.
