Engineering question

Blower flow had to be distributed consistently across channels and sieves even though installation geometry and operating point were tightly coupled.

Model & approach

  • Assess the blower and volute first at component level
  • Transfer the resulting behaviour into a full-machine model with channels and sieves

Boundary conditions

  • Several blower states and geometry variants
  • Open and closed enclosure conditions with multiple evaluation planes

Results of the assessment

  • The system assessment separated blower effects from distribution losses in channels and sieves.
  • A revised volute and airflow arrangement could be evaluated with the same logic.

Engineering consequence

The component-to-system method supported development of the blower housing, channels and distribution concept.
