Primary-air distribution in a combustion chamber
A CFD analysis assessed how primary air passed through distributors and inlet openings into an industrial combustion chamber and spread across the relevant section.
Engineering question
The supply system had to feed different chamber regions in a controlled manner despite distributors, openings and local resistance tending to create maldistribution.
Boundary conditions
- Several supply paths and opening groups
- Project-specific operating states with a simplified reaction-model boundary
Results of the assessment
- The simulation exposed distribution differences between supply paths.
- Local geometry and resistance governed the profile entering the process space.
Engineering consequence
The assessment supported refinement of distributors, openings and primary-air routing.
